Keith Robson
Having helped my very clever father with many projects from and early age, I feel I developed my technical skills and all but served an apprenticeship by the time I was 12!
Although I had a strong passion for engineering, music was always in me, and having aspirations to become a professional musician, I spent 4 years at music college, principally as a bass guitarist. Having a wide range of musical influences I spent time in several bands including a 7 piece Jazz funk outfit, playing gigs around the UK. This led to working with some successful House music producers. Despite having some relatively successful single releases I felt like I needed an ongoing career which could somehow keep me in the music business and at the same time satisfy my creativity as a precision engineer.
Robson Tuners (formerly Blake - Robson)
The perfect natural progression for me was to develop an embryonic conception of producing fine tuning machines originally thought of by my dad Alan and engineer Doug Blake. I became very exited by the possibilities of this idea and I made it my mission to produce a truly world class product, combining beauty with performance.
After thinking of little else other than this for the last few years, I now have the good fortune to be working with some of the world's finest luthiers and guitarists, and just as importantly committed amateurs who wish to upgrade their fine instruments with tuners of equal quality.
Customer Satisfaction
Despite my customers being situated in all 4 corners of the world, it is important to me to develop an individual relationship with them. It is because of this that I have taken up learning French, German, Italian and, Spanish!
Design Ethos
I feel that tuning machines should subtly enhance, and certainly not compete with the look of an instrument. For this reason I remain faithful to the ethos of simple elegant design, as opposed to over embellishment. It is this design concept which has lead me to produce my current range of machines for classical and steel stringed guitars.
